How Do You Safely Use A Materials Hoist?

Lift the load directly from your hands. The load can swing if it is not centered.
The hook area should be at the top of the hoist. This way, the hook support will be directly aligned with the hook shank.
Although you can pull in any direction with lever-operated hoists, it is best to keep it straight. Side pulling and lifting can cause wear to hoist parts. One person should pull on the chain, lever, and hand hoists.
Place the load in line with the hook shank when loading the lower hook. This way, the load chain runs straight from hook shank and hook shank.
